A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM CHRIS:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am running to represent you and the rest of my south Denver neighbors on the Denver City Council. Mark your calendars – Runoff Election Day: Tuesday, June 5, 2007. I would be honored to have your support.

I am running for the simplest of reasons – I love my neighborhood and want to protect it. I love Denver and want it to thrive. These are goals I know we all share.

But as neighborhoods and as a city, we face complex challenges in achieving these simple goals. We also face the major issues of our day – from jobs, to health care, to energy, to education. We need leadership that can meet these challenges while protecting neighborhood quality of life and promoting responsible community-centered business and development.

I offer you experience and a proven track record:

I led the Campaign for Responsible Development that won a landmark set of community benefits at the enormous Cherokee redevelopment project at I-25 & Broadway, including higher job quality, more workforce housing, focused local job opportunities, and the permanent exclusion of Wal-Mart.

I organized the “Voluntary Cleanup Advisory Board” that united surrounding neighborhoods and ensured neighborhood health and safety through greater testing and cleanup of industrial contamination at the former Gates Rubber properties and more protective state cleanup guidelines.

With union, business, and environmental allies I forged the Colorado Apollo Alliance, a unique coalition working to promote smart growth over sprawl and a cleaner more diverse energy economy that creates new jobs in Colorado and make us more energy independent.
